On the east coast of Tasmania there's an unimposing shed that shows lots of fish and some of the most interesting sea creatures that live in the pristine waters of the Great Southern Ocean.

Bicheno Aquarium displays many specimens of seahorses, sharks, jellyfish, fish, invertebrates and cool temperate marine species from these expansive waters.

We are open for viewing through the summer months and have become known as a real "value for money" attraction with plenty to see in a casual, friendly atmosphere.

All the fish you will find inside are local and come from the cool temperate waters around Tasmania.

Seahorses are a protected species in our waters. The ones on display are from Seahorse Australia in northern Tasmania, Australia's largest seahorse aquaculture centre.

Other species are collected by local commercial fishermen and are usually by-catch from our well managed fisheries.

Things change in the shed as different species come and go but we always try to  have the most popular and interesting things to show you.
